Each year the Service Children’s Champion organises a ‘Festival of Remembrance‘ for children from military families. This is hosted at Ripon Cathedral and is attended by over 650 children and their teachers. It is also attended by representatives from North Yorkshire Council and the local military units. The first service was held in 2012. The Festival of Remembrance’ features contributions from schools across the county and performances from the Service Children’s Community Choir and other local schools.
On Friday 10th November, 2023, over 700 children from across North Yorkshire gathered at Ripon Cathedral for the Festival of Remembrance. This event is a real highlight of the school year and is organised by the Service Children’s Champion. The Festival of Remembrance is also live-streamed each year through Ripon Cathedral’s YouTube channel and you can still access a recording of this year’s event.
