Workshops and Assemblies

Inspiring and Empowering Service Children

Every Service child deserves to feel seen, heard, and empowered. Our workshops and assemblies are designed to spark confidence, build resilience, and nurture emotional wellbeing in a way that’s engaging, age-appropriate, and unforgettable.

Workshops

As the Service Children’s Champion and a former teacher, I truly enjoy visiting schools across the county and working directly with children. Over the past few years, I’ve led Remembrance art workshops where students created beautiful mandalas. Last year, I collaborated with children to produce a virtual advent calendar, and for two consecutive years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside two incredibly talented artists.

Assemblies

As part of our virtual Month of the Military Child celebrations, a virtual assembly is shared with all schools across North Yorkshire to raise awareness and a foster a shared sense of pride in our military-connected families. We also live-stream the Festival of Remembrance annually from Ripon Cathedral, allowing children and staff to take part in this moving tribute from their classrooms. It is a powerful moment of reflection and connection, made even more meaningful by the ability to join together virtually.

If your school would like to host a special assembly celebrating service children, I’d be delighted to come and deliver one in person. These assemblies offer a chance to reflect, connect, and honour the unique experiences of military families—whether it’s through storytelling, creative activities, or shared moments of remembrance.

To arrange a visit or find out more, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’d love to work with your pupils and staff to create something meaningful together.
