Music has a powerful way of bringing people together—and the Service Children’s Community Choir is all about creating connection, celebration, and a sense of belonging through song.
Open to children and young people from military families across North Yorkshire, the choir offers a welcoming space where voices are lifted, friendships are formed, and stories are shared. Whether they’ve just moved into the area or have grown up in a service-connected household, every member brings their unique rhythm to the harmony.
Throughout the school year, the choir meets to rehearse, perform, and take part in local and national events that highlight the strength and pride of our Armed Forces community. It’s more than just singing—it’s an opportunity to be heard, to shine, and to feel part of something special.

A Performance to Remember
In November 2024, the Service Children’s Community Choir took centre stage at one of the nation’s most poignant events—the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.
Sharing the spotlight with acclaimed singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti, the choir performed in front of a packed auditorium that included His Majesty King Charles III, senior members of the Royal Family, and thousands of guests gathered to honour the sacrifices of the Armed Forces community.
Their voices rang out in tribute, representing the strength, resilience, and pride of service-connected children and young people across North Yorkshire. It was a moment of unity, remembrance, and celebration—one that will echo in hearts for years to come.

When and Where We Sing
The Service Children’s Community Choir rehearses regularly during term time at Catterick Garrison—right at the heart of our military community in North Yorkshire. Sessions are held on Wedneday evenings at Le Cateau Community Primary School, making it easy for children and young people to attend. We have choir members from schools across the garrison aged 6-16 years old.
Whether you’re a seasoned singer or just curious to try something new, we’d love to welcome you. Just bring your voice and your enthusiasm—we’ll take care of the rest!
