I became a military wife in 2004 and have proudly supported my husband through 24 years of service with REME. Our family has experienced the full rhythm of military life—three children, multiple school changes, and several house moves. As a primary school teacher, I’ve witnessed firsthand how these transitions shape a child’s wellbeing, development, and sense of identity.
In 2016, I joined Le Cateau Community Primary School as a class teacher and went on to serve as the school’s Service Pupil Champion until 2023. During that time, I led CPD for staff, organised family-focused events, and founded the Service Children’s Community Choir—a project close to my heart that supports emotional wellbeing through music and connection.
The choir gained national recognition when our children performed live in the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent—a proud moment that raised awareness for Service children across the UK. Today, the choir continues to grow, offering friendship, confidence, and creativity to every new member who joins.
Recognising my passion and expertise, I was invited to chair North Yorkshire’s Service Families Strategy Group. I’ve since reframed it as the Service Children’s Network (SCN)—a vibrant and expanding community offering free, termly CPD and hands-on support to schools across the region.

I stepped into the role of Service Children’s Champion for North Yorkshire in January 2023. Since then, I’ve reshaped our approach to delivering support—putting families, children, and educators at the heart of everything we do and ensuring that our impact is felt where it matters most.
As Champion, I’m committed to giving Service children the understanding, recognition, and opportunities they deserve—and to supporting every adult who walks alongside them.
