In April 2025, Service Children’s Champion proudly partnered with internationally renowned artist Mackenzie Thorpe to launch Seeds of Love: Hearts of Strength—a powerful community art initiative celebrating the creativity and resilience of military children.
Held at Risedale School in Catterick, the project brought together children aged 7 to 16, many from service families, to take part in a joyful and expressive workshop. Each child decorated a blank resin heart in their own unique style, guided by Mackenzie’s philosophy of bold, authentic creativity. These hearts will be assembled into a large public sculpture, set to be unveiled in the new Catterick Garrison town centre—a lasting tribute to the strength, love, and unity of military families.

The day was a vibrant celebration of community spirit, featuring performances by the Service Children’s Community Choir and NY Voice, and creative workshops led by Thunkit Theatre. The atmosphere was electric with laughter, storytelling, and artistic expression.
As Mackenzie Thorpe shared, “Art brings people together. It’s about connection, emotion, and leaving something behind that matters.” His heartfelt involvement gave children a chance to be seen, heard, and celebrated through their own creations.
We are incredibly thankful to Mackenzie for his generosity, vision, and unwavering support of this project. His work continues to inspire young people to embrace their creativity and share their stories with the world.
