Community of Champions

Across the country, Service children bring strength, resilience, and a rich diversity of experiences to our schools and communities. Yet their needs can be unique—and no single local authority can address every challenge alone.

That’s why we’re building a Community of Champions: a network of committed professionals from local authorities who lead, influence, or support work relating to Service children.
Our aim is simple: connect, collaborate, and create positive change—together.

Who We’re Looking For

We want to reach local authority colleagues who:

  • Lead on Service Children’s education, inclusion, or wellbeing
  • Hold responsibility for Service Pupil Premium, admissions, attendance, SEND, or safeguarding
  • Coordinate military‑connected initiatives in schools or the wider community
  • Are passionate about improving outcomes for Service children and their families

If you are the key contact for Service children in your area—or if you can signpost us to the right person—we’d love to hear from you.

What We Will Do

The aim is that our ‘Champions’ will meet once every term to:

  • Share progress, challenges, and best practice
  • Showcase what’s working well in different local areas
  • Develop joint initiatives and resources
  • Strengthen consistency of support across regions
  • Build a trusted community of professionals who understand the needs of military‑connected families

The aim is that these meetings will be supportive, practical, and focused on real impact for children and schools.

Why Join?

By becoming part of the ‘Community of Champions’, you will:

  • Meet colleagues who share your passion
  • Gain fresh ideas and ready‑to‑use strategies
  • Have a collaborative space to solve problems
  • Contribute to national consistency for Service children
  • Amplify the voice of Service families across education

Together, we can make our collective work even stronger.
